In the research for our project, we had agreed to utilize the common themes and trends of boy band groups and their audiences in creating our characters. This would allow us to understand what exactly makes boy band groups popular and how we can access these demographics for our success.
When we first gathered together to talk over our project, we discussed what song we should choose, and we would inevitably make the decision to use “Carry On,” by fun. We decided on this song because we thought it would be a smart idea to convey a deeper meaning for our project and utilize the possible sadder aspects of the characters. To be specific, we knew that we would have to create a recognizable brand image that would allow it to have a bigger impact on the first people to come across our group. So, we had wanted to create a strong and symbolic group based on how we could portray the individual stories of each character and how the group formed. We also came up with the idea that if these 4 characters were different and all came together, it would widen our base audience exponentially and give us a better opportunity for success.
When dividing up the work amongst ourselves, we wanted to ensure that the jobs that were given would allow us to focus our full attention on that task. So, for the jobs such as creating the storyboard for the music video, it would allow us to focus completely on making that portion of the project fantastic.
